Draft Strategic Waste Manangement Plan out for Comment

A draft strategic waste management plan has been prepared for the Stirling Group of Local Governments.

In November 2007, the Shires of Broomehill, Tambellup, Kent, Gnowangerup and Jerramungup, identified as the Stirling Group of Local Governments, agreed by memorandum of understanding, to work together to develop a Strategic Waste Management Plan (SWMP) for the region.

The draft plan has been developed in alignment with the Waste Authority of Western Australia’s Zero Waste Plan Development Scheme (ZWPDS).

The draft SWMP outlines existing waste services provided by member councils, details of current waste generation including recycling data, and recommended strategies to achieve improved outcomes for the region and the individual local governments in the management of waste.

Council is seeking public comment on the plan.  Correspondence should be received by Friday 14 November 2008, and can be forwarded to:
