This temporary website has been established to access information relating the formation of the Shire of Broomehill-Tambellup on the 1 July 2008.
The Shire was formed with the voluntary merger of the previous Shires of Broomehill and Tambellup. Access to information pertaining to these two local governments can still be accessed by following the prompts below.
Governance of the Shire will be undertaken by Commissioner Jan Grimoldby from 1 July 2008 to October 2008 when new elections will be held.
The Shire of Broomehill-Tambellup is a progressive rural community located within the Great Southern Region and some 300 km south-east of Perth and 126 km north of Albany. The region is predominantly a sheep and grain producing area with a growing interest in aquaculture, viticulture and horticulture. The Shire has a population of 1,184 people and area of around 2,813 square kilometres.
The Shire has two towns being Broomehill Village and the Tambellup townsite. Both towns offer the advantages of rural lifestyle with the convenience of most essential services including recreation and leisure facilities, government, health and education services. Although our town are small they offer numerous sites of interest for tourists and travellers. The most well-known would be the Holland Track which starts at Broomehill and ends at Coolgardie.
How To Find Us

Broomehill is located 302 km south east of Perth on the Great Southern Highway and is just 20km south of Katanning. From Perth the easiest route is down the Albany Highway, turning left at Arthur River onto the Wagin Road.

Although a small town, Broomehill has numerous sites of interest for tourists and travellers. The most well-known would be the Holland Track which starts at Broomehill and ends at Coolgardie.
